Film Appreciation

Film Appreciation 1 semester Grades 10, 11, 12 ½ credit

 

Students will be introduced to the language of film, its history and to the cultural impact the film industry has had on America and the world. Students will have the opportunity to view popular and classic films, from the silent era to today. The course will consist of a weekly or bi-weekly introduction of the genre, viewing, discussion and critical evaluation through essays. The majority of films will not be rated higher than PG-13, however, some more influential films may be rated R but will not contain nudity or graphic violence. Students wishing to take the class must have a signed parental permission form, available from the instructor.
