Contemporary Reading/Creative Writing

0413 Contemporary Reading/Creative Writing 1 semester Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 ½ credit

 

Students will read contemporary novels as literature. Whole class readings of specific works and independent readings of the student’s choice (with teacher approval) shall comprise course content. Students will be required to purchase paperback books for this course. In conjunction with the reading of various styles and genres, students will focus writing assignments on short stories, poems, and nonfiction reflective of the various readings, including a written final paper evaluating/comparing the books chosen for the course. Credit will be counted as an elective credit toward graduation.
