0625 *Eating for the Health of It 1 semester Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 ½ credit
How do your food choices affect you? Learn about what you should be eating, both now and in the future, in order to enjoy optimum wellness. Good nutrition is the basis for this course. You will examine nutrients and their functions, along with eating plans that will insure that you get all of the nutrients you need. You will develop your food preparation skills through authentic laboratory experiences of preparing nutritious and tasty foods, including a healthy recipe, a low-calorie snack following an exercise activity, a Thanksgiving dinner with all of its trimmings, and a “Brown Bagger’s” lunch.
