College Search Information

Below are some links to help students explore possible colleges. The biggest thing to keep in mind are the answers to the following questions. This will help narrow down a student’s search process.

1.  Does the college have majors that interest me for a career?

  • If you haven’t chosen a major, are there lots of majors to choose from when I decide?

2.  What type of college do I want to go to?

  • How far away is it?

  • How large/small is the campus?

  • What is the cost?

3.  Can I get in?

  • Look at minimum GPA required, ACT/SAT scores and the kind of High School curriculum requested. Be aware that highly selective schools turn away thousands of qualified students every year who apply. Minimum GPA for least selective schools is 2.0 (some colleges allow you to be admitted conditionally even if below this) while the GPA would be much higher for more selective schools.
